Apple’s ‘n’ Enabler loose on the internet

February 1st, 2007 by dan

It was a few hours after the ‘n’ Enabler’s (piece of software that updates some recent Mac laptops and desktops to the next-generation 802.11n standard) release on the Apple Store that we managed to get our hands on a free copy available in the myst of the net. Apple said they had to ask a $1.99 fee for the 260KB updater due to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and that let us believe they didn’t really care about it being freely distributed over the net and installed on any compatible Mac.
Since they stated that “the software license for the 802.11n Enabler software allows you to install and use it on all computers under your ownership or control”, that’s pretty much it, done! Move on!
Will you pay for it?
